Is UFC Fighter Chael Sonnen Turning Into a Joke?

June 3rd, 2010 by Jesse Motiff Leave a reply »

It's no secret that Chael Sonnen has some great trash-talking skills. He's bashed UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva on numerous occasions. After that, he moved on to Silva's manager, Ed Soares.

Sonnen has turned his attention away from Silva for a bit and towards Rampage Jackson and the UFC's light-heavyweight division. He also lands a jab on former champion Lyoto Machida.

I understand Sonnen's reasoning for wanting to hype his fight with Anderson Silva. It makes good marketing sense. I don't recall him ever discussing a future move to the 205-pound division so his tirade seems a bit odd. It seems like he's doing and saying the most outrageous things just to get his name in the media.

Is Chael Sonnen going too far with all this trash talk? Is it nothing more than pre-fight hype, or is he over-stepping boundaries with some of his recent actions and interviews?
